Being Able to Embrace Who You Are

This beautiful illustration by @sketches_in_stillness is something I frequently share with children.

“I am entirely made of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.”

I don’t tell them this because I am comfortable with my flaws (that’s very much a work in progress 😉!). But I want the children I sit with to know that everyone has flaws and, consequently, everyone has both comfortable and uncomfortable stories they know about themselves. Everyone.

It’s so important we create safe spaces for children to share ALL their stories 📚, both the comfortable and the uncomfortable. Because when they feel able to do this, and here’s the magic 🪄, it becomes possible for them to begin to fully embrace who they are.
