I met ‘a lighthouse’ in a school I visited recently 💡. We are being funded to visit primary schools in Tameside and Glossop to run Worry Wizard sessions 🏫. We are having lots of fun 🤩. After one session, a student came up to me. “Can I say something to you, miss?” she said. “Of course,” I replied. “I just want to say that when I grow up, I want to be just like you. I know I am not grown up yet so I’m going to just try to be a little like you for now.” ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💝 My h
The Worry Wizard 🧙♀️ + Bigfoot Arts Education 🎭 = helping children move from Worries to Wellbeing✨ . I am so excited to be back training with @bigfootartseducation today. It is over 2 years since I delivered my first training session to them. On that day I reflected that I’d be: 🌟talking about the importance of helping children tell their story - with storytellers 📖. 🌟talking about creating safe spaces for children to explore their emotional worlds - with people who c

I’ve been reading a lot about pandemic fatigue this past week. Recognising the signs of it in my own world, this beautiful illustration by @sketchymuma lifted my spirits 🆙 🤍. Thank you to @thepsychologymum whose brilliant writing helps to explain what so many of us are experiencing right now, “There’s growing evidence that the pandemic may be causing increased fatigue…people have started to use the term pandemic fatigue to describe the exhaustion or mental exhaustion you m

This anti bullying week the focus is #OneKindWord. I’d like to stretch that a little bit and make it three? Just 🐝 you You in all your you-ness 🥰. I know this isn’t always easy. When you are being bullied (or have been), it is so hard not to ask, “What is wrong with me?” And then try to change you. I want you to know this. There’s NOTHING wrong with you. The bully (or bullies) need support with THEIR behaviour. This isn’t about you. Hold tight. And remember, Just 🐝 you

Joining our brilliant cast from Young Storyhouse, for our final recording for Together Not Alone, our brand-new animation project, was such a treat 💝. Watching them learn and record Amy Wadge’s beautiful original songs, written especially for our animation, filled me with pride and wonder in equal measure. This description of home leapt off the page whilst I was reading a magazine 📖 earlier in the summer 🌞. I wonder what you think of it 💭? It made me feel a confusing mixture of warmth ☀️ and sadness 😔. The warmth ☀️ - for me, it beautifully describes what home can be. The sadness 😔 - I’m aware many children don’t live these words 💙. This sadness often leaves me feeling powerless and unsure of what I can do. But I hold tight to the inspiring and hope filled words of @kier
I spend a lot of time with children and young people questioning: 1: There is only one path in life, the straight path to happiness 📏❓⁉️🤨 (e.g. GCSEs then ‘A’ levels then a degree then a job you work to be promoted in and so on). I enjoy sharing the idea: 1: There is a wibbly wobbly path in life 🏞, a non-straight path, a path that takes many twists and turns but one on which you may discover lots of happy along the way 🌈. Today marks a lovely twist and turn on my wibbly

I know some Worries are really big right now and, as no one can come to me, I thought I could come to you! Here’s a fun and gentle activity you can enjoy with children to help them with their Worries. I’d love to see what you do. Please feel free to share far and wide. We need those Worries to be kept firmly in their place.

I’m very much a ‘let’s sit and talk, two chairs, me and you, type of person’. I’ve never been a ‘stand up in front of a room full of people and talk at them’ type of person. But recently I’ve realised I’m not standing there on my own. I’m standing there surrounded by all the amazing children (and adults) I’ve met along the way, tasked with trying to share some of the amazing things they’ve taught me. So whilst I’ll always be more comfortable doing the first, I know I need to
