WHY OUR WORK MATTERS
"70% of children and young people who experience a mental health problem have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age."
Mental Health Foundation, 2016
I find this statistic devastating. I frequently witness the consequences that arise from delayed intervention both for the child but also for those who care about them. I am keenly aware that the scale and duration of help required is significantly reduced if the need for assistance is identified earlier.

As a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, when meeting with children for the first time, I often witness them visibly exhale when they realise they have found someone with whom they can entrust their Worries. It is such a precious, transformative moment; watching a child who may well have been carrying their Worries, all alone, for a very long time, release much of the tension they have been holding.
Many children wait far too long for their ‘exhale moment’. This knowledge, and my increasing frustration with it, is a key factor in me creating The Worry Wizard. I firmly believe it is possible to support children and young people to share their Worries long before they would otherwise need to enter a counselling room. However The Worry Wizard is not intended to replace services which are there for children who are already facing significant difficulties with their mental health.
Worries can leave a child feeling horribly alone. This feeling is often shared by the adults wanting to support them. The Worry Wizard seeks to combat this feeling by offering a warm, supportive Community; a soft, landing place that nurtures emotional connection between children, young people and adults enabling the move from Worries to Wellbeing.
Working to ensure The Worry Wizard offers everyone trying to support a child's mental health with a soft place to land is challenging. We are continually seeking new ways to create wonderful therapeutic content. If you share a commitment to support children struggling with their mental health and Wellbeing, we would love to hear from you.
Welcome to our Community, we hope you enjoy being part of it.
Sending you Wellbeing wishes, from me,
Amy, The Worry Wizard.
